Directly under Missy’s Kitchen, this Thai restaurant has interesting alternatives if you prefer a vegetarian cuisine—although they also run the full range of local salmon, steak, and Nelson Bay scallops. Using Thai methods, they incorporate South Island vegetables into their dishes.

Surrounded by mountains and nestled beside a rock-climbing wall at 50 Cardrona Valley Road, the Lone Star cuts an imposing, dramatic figure, none more so than after dark when its spectacular lighting renders it a sight to behold.
